About the Book

The creation/evolution debate rages on despite the overwhelming evidence supportive of evolution. The terms creation "science" and "scientific" creationism suggest that creationism springs from a scientific source, yet this is not the case. Creationist views are based not on the interpretation of scientific data but on religious fundamentalists' belief in biblical inerrancy. The Dictionary of Science and Creationism is as up-to-date reference work that clearly and concisely presents the scientific data that reveal the pseudoscientific nature of creation "science".

Written in nontechnical language and intended for the general reader as well as educators, the book discusses all major fields of scientific inquiry that relate to the creation/evolution debate. The evidence supporting evolution and the reasons creationist "science" arguments are invalid are both presented concisely under each entry. The alphabetical format and the comprehensive index make the material easily accessible and all entries are meticulously cross-refenced.

This volume, as Martin Gardner writes in his Foreword, "can be a valuable aid to politicians and educators, as well as to journalists of the print and electronic media, when they face pressures to alter state laws about teaching evolution or to force textbook publishers to meet creationist demands".
