About the Authors

Arthur Benjamin, Ph.D., is a professor of mathematics at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California where he has taught since earning his doctorate in Mathematical Sciences from John Hopkins University in 1989. Dr. Benjamin has been featured in Scientific American and Discover as well as numerous other magazines. He is also a "lightning calculator" and entertains regularly on television and such live venues as the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Michael Shermer, Ph.D., teaches critical thinking and the history of science at Occidental College, is founder and director of The Skeptics Society and publisher of Skeptic magazine. Dr. Shermer is the author of several books, including Teach Your Child Science. He coauthored Mathemagics with Arthur Benjamin.
